The ferry terminal was opened In Azerbaijan as a part of the first phase of the new complex of Baku International Sea Trade Port. According to the order of the Ministry of Transport, Dutch company «Royal Haskoning» prepared the master plan and the port design. In the first stage, the port will handle 10 million tons of cargo and 50,000 containers per year. In the second stage, the capacity of the port will reach 17 million tons of cargo and 150,000 containers, and at the end of the third stage - 25 million tons of cargo and 1 million containers. The establishment of a logistics centre at the port under the project is also important. Initially, it is planned to store 100,000 containers and provide various services to cargo owners.
