LED stands for “Light Emitting Diode”. An LED is a small electronic chip that produces light when electric current passes through it. Unlike old incandescent bulbs, LEDs do not use a heated wire or gas-filled tubes. They are made from solid materials, which is why they are called solid-state lighting technology.
